The two halves of the idea contradict each other. A 20% cushion on an index pays almost nothing: SPY 3.5%/yr, QQQ 1.8%, IWM 1.5%. A rule that refuses anything under 50% therefore places zero trades on every index ETF. Only the 3× products quote those yields — TQQQ ~25%, SOXL ~69% — and there the cushion is the thing that gets eaten.
